In 1853, seven Norwegian pastors met near LaCrosse, Wisconsin and organized the Synod for the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Lutheran Normal School, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was one of three schools founded and operated by the Norwegian Synod. This book is the story of the Lutheran Normal School's 29-year history of training teachers for the growing Norwegian-American communities in South Dakota.
