African Holocaust was started as a revision of Black Martyrs, published by Sheed and Ward in 1941, which has been out of print for many years. However, thanks to the kindness of Archbishop L.J. Cabana in making available to the reviser the results of Fr Lefebre's painstaking research, it has been found possible to fill in some of the lacunae in the former work, to present a more connected story, and to correct some errors which would undoubtedly not have found their way into print had not the author been prevented by the invasion of Holland from seeing his work through the press. Although based upon Black Martyrs, African Holocaust may claim to be a new attempt to make the martyrs of Uganda better known, and their heroic courage and steadfast faith better appreciated.
