From the Preface:
This revision incorporates the latest features of construction and operating principles associated with the steam generating equipment used in vessels of the United States Navy.
"Naval Boilers" has been prepared primarily for the instruction of midshipmen in their first year at the United States Naval Academy. Consequently, the subject matter is largely descriptive in nature. Emphasis has been placed on operating principles, nomenclature, component parts and arrangement of the assembled boiler to the exclusion of the thermodynamic and heat transfer aspects which are treated subsequently in the midshipmen's curriculum. It is believed that the material presented here will also be of interest and assistance to operating engineers of the Navy and Merchant Marine.
Includes foldout diagrams and black and white illustrations throughout.
