Escape from Indian Captivity (Used Paperback) - Roberta Ingles Steele
John Ingles grew up hearing stories from his mother about her 1755 ordeal–being taken captive by Shawnee Indians. Mary Draper Ingles eventually escaped and made it home over a 43-day journey with nothing but determination and the clothes on her back.
John published his mother’s story in 1824, and it became a sensation. Over 270 years later, we are still lucky to have it.
The 1982 edition was published by Roberta Ingles Steele, Mary’s great, great, great-granddaughter. This reprint preserves the original spelling and grammar, with a few paragraphs and periods inserted for easier reading. A new introduction and photos are also included.
