Wartime Letters: London and Moscow 1941-1945 (Used Hardcover) - Kathleen Harriman, Geoffrey Roberts (Editor)

Kathleen Harriman, youngest daughter of wealthy American tycoon W. Averell Harriman, jumped at the chance to accompany her father on his wartime posting to London--and then on his mission to Moscow when he was appointed U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union.

In her wonderfully engaging private letters, published here for the first time, Kathy wrote in a deeply personal and highly political way--bringing to life ordinary people as well as the many famous "bigwigs" she met and socialized with. Edited expertly by historian Geoffrey Roberts, her correspondence provides a thrilling and unique insight into the machinations of Second World War politics and diplomacy as she witnessed them.
